The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that passenger Hong Fei Zhang was killed in a car crash on Thursday, November 4, 2021. This wrongful death car accident reportedly occurred around 9:30 p.m., near Milepost 29, on Interstate 40 (I-40). Mr. Zhang was pronounced dead at the scene of this very tragic crash. Mr. Zhang was only 77 years of age.
As a passenger in a car, regardless of fault of others, Mr. Zhang’s family would have a right to make a wrongful death claim.

In wrongful death cases, many of which settle for responsible parties’ policy limits without court litigation, the family of the victim may receive damages for the following injuries:
- Hospital and other medical charges
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Loss of income and services
- And often most importantly compensation for loss of love, comfort, society, companionship and affection.
In California the time limit to settle or bring an action (that is, to file suit in the appropriate Court in California) is usually two (2) years but there are different rules and procedures for various types of cases, including government claims, medical malpractice, etc. This deadline is referred to as the California Statute of Limitations. So do not let this happen to you — it is wise to consult with an experienced wrongful death accident lawyer as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, we frequently receive calls from family members after the statute of limitations time deadline has passed, often because of strong emotional reasons which are very understandable. But as mentioned unfortunately then its too late to present a claim under California law and try to settle for a fair amount to compensate the family for the loss of a loved one, often the bread winner and supporter of the family.
So please do not wait. Please do not let that happen to you. It’s important to investigate right away and preserve key evidence before it may disappear (for example, what caused the collision, who was at fault and why, the identity of all drivers, vehicle owners, witnesses, etc., was the passenger wearing required seat belts at the time of the collision and if not why not, are there any videos or data recordings of the incident and have they been secured, insurance coverages of everyone involved, etc.). If your family or you are the victim of an injury accident, please call or contact us now. The call is absolutely FREE. We truly care about our clients and it would be our honor and privilege to discuss your claim with you.
